Ways to Save Money

It's time to tighten our belts.  With rising unemployment, and so much uncertainty in our financial markets, now is not the time to be wasting money.  Do you know how to throw away at least $10,000 per year?  Well, just waste, on average, about $27.40 per day.  You may think you don't waste that much money, but it all adds up!  Here are some of the ways we waste that much in just one day:

  1. Large latte or cappuccino from a famous coffee shop, $5
  2. Bagel with cream cheese, or a danish, for coffee break, $3
  3. Bottled water from the convenient store, $1
  4. Lunch out with co-workers, on average, $9
  5. Cigarettes, $4.50
  6. Impulse purchases at the department or grocery store, $5

You get the picture, we're already over $27.  There are lots of other small daily purchases that we make that add up.  Transportation to and from work, lottery tickets, beer and wine, dinners at fancy restaurants regularly, unused gym and club memberships, expensive cell phone plans, etc…..

Take a good look at your finances.  One way to do so is to record every single penny that you spend for a week or two.  You'll probably be surprised at just how much money you waste, and it's a great way to get a grip on spending.
